SKURUGATA NATURE RESERVE

Welcome to magnificent nature!

AN EXCEPTIONAL NATURE EXPERIENCE.

Skurugata is and has been a well-visited destination for both locals and tourists for a long time. The view from Skuruhatt, east of the gorge, is miles wide and remarkable.

The climate in the gorge is very cool and humid, which means that many unusual moss species can be found here. The surrounding area consists of a coniferous forest of spruce and pine. Parts of the forest are natural forest with old trees and dead wood, similar to the environment described in John Bauer’s stories.

  • Hiking

  • The hike takes about an hour from the parking space, but do not forget to take a moment and enjoy the beautiful surroundings from time to time. We recommend comfortable clothes and trekking boots for the hike since there are plenty of rocks, boulders, and fallen trees.
  • ENJOY THE VIEW

  • From the top of Skuruhatt, you will find an impressive view that stretches for miles over the forests in Småland. You will find several campfire areas with tables and benches here, as well as toilets. Wheelchairs and strollers are also able to reach the view from the parking space.
  • RESPECT THE NATURE

  • The natural reserve’s vegetation, wildlife, and geological formation must not be damaged or disturbed, so please show respect and consideration for the area. Camping or driving motor vehicles are permitted. You are only allowed to start a fire on designated campfire areas with brought firewood.
